      This module introduces the cruise industry and the wider shipping context. There are two significant elements within the module; the shipping industry in general and the hotel services onboard ships in particular. A combination of lectures and student-directed learning activities will be included for this module.

      The module is intended to increase student awareness of both tourism destinations and influences upon their development.

    • HTM129 Introduction to Sustainable Hospitality Management

      This module develops a baseline understanding of the hospitality sector in the context of hospitality operations. It develops an understanding of sustainable management practice and considers these in the context of a range of hospitality operations. It includes an external learning element and provides a practical perspective to theoretical reading.

      The module is designed to develop the knowledge and skills acquired in stage one in the context of the cruise industry. Operational aspects of cruising combined with passenger services form the main focus. A programme of lectures, seminars and individual projects will help develop student learning in context.

      This module provides the opportunity to critically evaluate foodservice events. Established foodservice management theory is presented in a series of lectures and then reflected upon in relation to operational environments.

      This module introduces important aspects of facilities management within the hospitality and tourism context. The module is designed to reflect the influence that facility/product design, and organisational procedures within the operation have on financial growth and customer support.

A level/AS level: 240 points (including a minimum of 140 points from two A levels). 14-19 Diplomas: accepted – please enquire. Other combinations and non-A level qualifications also considered.
