Portal guide / FAQs

We are delighted that so many of you have decided to join us this year.  We provide lots of options for living and all our halls of residence give you the opportunity to live in an environment that promotes diversity, embraces excellence and works to develop a strong sense of community.

Paying your room deposit

It’s time to pay the deposit to reserve your room and get one step closer to moving on to your new home in Plymouth. We are doing this hall by hall so that we don’t overload the system, as follows:

  • Friday 22 August: Radnor, Pilgrim, Robbins
  • Tuesday 26 August: Francis Drake, Mary Newman, Gilwell
  • Wednesday 27 August: Frobisher House, Alexandra Works, St Thomas and St Teresa
  • Thursday 28 August: Astor House
  • Friday 29 August: Discovery Heights, Central Point, Central Park Towers

You will receive an email from us and you'll have approximately seven days (details will be in your email) to pay your deposit from the dates shown here. Alternatively, log into the portal from here. Please contact us if this causes you any problems at or call the Residence Life team on +44 1752 588644.

Still on the waiting list for a room for September 2014?

Existing bookings are being released daily as students defer or change their study options. We are also seeking new accommodation. Students on the priority list will be contacted personally to be offered these rooms as they become available.

Please be patient and don’t worry, we will find accommodation for you.

Many thanks

I haven't had my arrival time yet?

Details of arrival dates and times have been emailed to you (Monday 8 September) and full information posted (Tuesday 9 September). If you haven't received this please check your spam folder.

If you have only had your room reserved this week, you will receive emails and documentation over the weekend.

If you reserve accommodation via the portal this weekend (12/13/14 September) you will receive arrivals dates/times on Monday.

I want a specific arrival day / time?

If you're unable to make your allotted time, please complete the arrivals time slot change query form before returning it to us. We'll advise you of any changes that can be made but please note that changes to these times will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.

I want to book a room in private accommodation?

We are now setting up Residence Life communities in our private accommodation, and if you’re in one of these houses you’ll have access to the Residence Life experience, activities and our hall teams to support, guide and develop you. All student shared houses and flats that are registered on our database have been inspected by our Approved Housing Assessor and are close to the main campus, very reasonably priced for rent and in student populated areas.

To access this service, where we will help you find accommodation please:

1. Access the housing database StudentPad to view available properties:

  • Register on our Studentpad database of approved accommodation.
  • When creating your account you'll be asked for your Plymouth University email address. You won't have one at this stage, so please ignore this and use your personal email address that you applied to UCAS with
  • We'll confirm that your status is Unconditional, giving you permission to look at all the property with availability.

2. As a student on our priority waiting list, you'll receive a call this week to discuss available options. It’s essential that you access StudentPad to see photos of what you're being offered. Alternatively you can go online and select what you like before calling us to discuss or emailing your preferences for us to book.

3. When you agree to the room we'll email confirmation and give you the landlord’s details to arrange for you to sign an Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement – it’s essential for you to understand that, once signed, this is a binding agreement that will hold you to the property for the dates stated on the contract, and sort our financial payments(*)

4. We will then be in touch soon.

*We are acting as the intermediary to arrange agreed accommodation. Plymouth University does not manage your chosen private accommodation
